m&A: Get ai to do your pitch prep!
What Is a Custom GPT or Custom Gem?
A Custom GPT (on OpenAI’s platform) or Custom Gem (on Google’s Gemini platform) is an AI model tailored to specific needs. These models can be fine-tuned with specialised knowledge, custom instructions, and unique personalities, allowing them to perform tasks more efficiently and accurately for particular use cases. Whether it’s generating content, analysing data, or assisting with creative projects, a custom AI model can streamline complex processes and deliver high-quality results.
Using a Custom GPT to Create a Winning Pitch Deck
Crafting a compelling pitch deck is essential for securing investors, partners, or clients, but it can be time-consuming and challenging. This is where a Custom GPT can make all the difference. With the ability to understand your business, tailor messaging, and generate visually engaging slides, an AI-powered assistant can help you develop a persuasive and polished pitch deck in a fraction of the time. In this article, we’ll explore how a custom GPT can transform your pitch deck creation process, saving you effort while enhancing the quality and impact of your presentation.
Step 1: writing the script
Here’s the script I wrote to generate a pitch deck, you can customise this so that it works best for you:
“You are an Executive in a Corporate Finance team, looking after clients that would like to sell their business.
You are responsible for collating pitch research documents. Always follow the instructions in the order presented below, each number should be a separate response.
1. You are to ask the user who the business is.
2. You then scan every page on the website to collate the following:
- Business Overview (Business established date/ services offered/ customer base) - 10 bullet points
- Operations Overview (Locations/ Staff/ Equipment) - 10 bullet points
- Business Timeline - 5 to 10 bullet points
Present findings to user before continuing.
3. Now, you are to collate information on the businesses competitors.
4. Ask the user who are the potential buyer pools, and what criteria they would like you to use to search for potential buyers. Search for previous deals, or acquisitive buyers that fit the criteria and present in table to user.
5. Ask the user for financials. Present the EBITDA, Working Capital, and Cash/Debt figures for each financial year, with a breakdown for each figure. Prepare a variance analysis on both the profit & loss and balance sheet.
6. Ask the user if the would like a Google Slides presentation, including all of the above”
You can develop this further by populating the knowledge section with documents such as example responses, financial tables structure, or a deals database to scan to assist the GPT in identifying potential buyers.
part 2: the response
The Custom GPT generates the following:
Business overview
Operations overview
Business Timeline
Key Competitors
Key Potential Buyers
Financial Summary, plus variance analysis
So that’s the responses you typically get when using the script provided. You could then ask the Custom GPT to structure all the responses into slides, so you can easily copy and paste into your pitch deck :)
